Movie poster for Final Destination Bloodlines. There is a structure which looks suspiciously like the Space Needle, with the top exploding into a giant fireball. As is the theme with all of this franchise's posters, the dark parts of the fireball form a huge skull, which takes up most of the image. Text: Death runs in the family. Final Destination Bloodlines Only in theaters May 16 Filmed for IMAX

31 Days of Horror: Day 17 - Girls Nite Out on Blu-ray from @arrowvideo.bsky.social A pretty standard, slightly above average slasher. I'm adding a bonus point for the last scene and unsettling final shot. #31Daysofhorror #physicalmedia #horror

A collage graphic with a red border theme titled "The 5 Best Horror Movies I Watched in October 2025." The top left cell contains the title text on a black background. Top center shows the poster for “You Won’t Be Alone,” featuring a woman turned away, touching the side of her face with long messy hair. Top right shows the poster for “Everyone Is Going to Die,” featuring a close-up of a person wearing a cracked, eerie white mask with text “Fear Has a Face.” Bottom left shows the poster for “Weapons,” with three children running down a suburban street at dusk. Bottom center shows the poster for “The Love Witch,” featuring a retro painted portrait of a glamorous, dark-haired woman with bloody hands. Bottom right shows the poster for “Strange Darling,” featuring a woman with bright red hair dripping like paint and the tagline “Love Hurts.”
I watched a lot of horror this October, and these 5 stuck with me the hardest. Each hits fear from a different angle: identity, inevitability, violence, beauty, and love as a weapon. Which one wrecked you the most? 🎃🔥🖤 #horror #horrormovies #31daysofhorror

Just like that, my #31DaysOfHorror is done and dusted for the year. I had to miss a few of my bonus films due to various reasons, but I managed to watch all my main films and quite a few of the bonus ones as well. Can’t wait to do it again next year for the Halloween season.
Just like the original short films that inspired this, the TERRIFIER vibes are very obvious even though it’s not as ultraviolent as that franchise. Still this feature length version wasn’t too bad. There’s a memorable moments throughout it in the title character is creepy. 2.5/5 #31DaysOfHorror
This was another one of those films that I’ve been wanting to see for quite a while and now that I have, I can definitely say I dug it a lot. Even it sticks close to the tropes of the genre, it’s an really entertaining, gory and vibrate LBGTQ+ slasher film with a solid cast. 3.5/5 #31DaysOfHorror
A movie poster-like graphic for the short film and Gushers commercial, FruitHead. Yes, those Gushers. The fruit snacks. A deep brownish black to bright red gradient background, with the title in a styled font that looks like it was cut out of Swiss cheese. Off to the side, Bradley Whitford is tied to a chair, and there is a giant rotting strawberry with human eyes behind him. Text: Revenge is a dish best served fruity. Fruithead Gushers Bradley Whitford Chester Collins

Not a full length movie (but it is CINEMA *chef's kiss*), so I'll call it a bonus!
There was a little splash on social media when this came out, but I wanted to include it in the roundup so I held off on posting.
But...what??!
October Movie BONUS:
Fruithead
After delivering the worst in the series with V/H/S/BEYOND, this Halloween themed 8th entry is the best one in the franchise since the second one for me. All the segments are consistently strong and feature many great moments.“Kidprint” in particular was just very disturbing. 3.5/5 #31DaysOfHorror
Movie poster for The Host (2006). A long tentacle is sticking out of the water, holding a young girl up in the air by the waist. She is kicking trying to get out of the monster's grip. There is a city skyline in the background. Text: One of the greatest monster movies ever made! - Logan Hill, New York Magazine The Host

We had time for another movie after FD5, but went for a palate cleanser.
I've liked everything I've seen from Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, Okja, and Parasite), and I love water monsters, so this has been on the list for a while.
October Movie #14:
The Host (2006)
Yeah. Outside of the strong first film, this fifth entry in the franchise continues to show that the HELL HOUSE LLC series is the most disappointing modern horror franchise. While the shift away from found-footage is bold, this sequel is over-long, poorly acted and simply boring. 1/5 #31DaysOfHorror
*Sigh*… I can see what Bryan Bertino is going for here, sadly I absolutely hated this. While Dakota Fanning & Kathryn Hunter were solid and it has good atmosphere, they cant save this ugly, boring, relentlessly dark and mean-spirited misfire that wastes its interesting premise. 1/5 #31DaysOfHorror
Movie poster for Final Destination 5. Two people are in the distance, scrambling at the top of a large bridge with water underneath. The bridge, in classic Final Destination style, is in a state of total destruction and just crumbling apart. The rubble closest to the camera forms a huge skull as it falls into the water. Text: Final Destination 5 August 12th in 3D

Hey, good for me! This is the most I've watched in a horror franchise!
It has to be better than 4, right?
October Movie #13:
Final Destination 5
Movie poster for The Final Destination a.k.a. Final Destination 4. 5 young adults are standing on a car racing track. Everything is tinted blue so it looks 2000s edgy and spooky. Behind them, a racecar is flying through the air. In front of them, there's a giant puddle with their reflections in it, except all their faces have been replaced with skulls. Text: Rest in pieces. The Final Destination Death saved the best for 3D In cinemas August 27.

Somehow, I saw FD3 in college, without having seen any of the others.
So a few years ago, we started at the beginning, and made it through 3.
We kept hearing how good Bloodlines is, so...you know. Time to catch up.

Movie poster from The Phantom. Um, it's Billy Zane as the Phantom, in a matte purple spandex suit and a black mask around his eyes. This is taken from an angle above him, so it's mostly his face and chest. He's holding his fist out towards the camera, wearing the Phantom skull ring, which has light coming from its eyes. He's wearing purple. The background is purple. Everything is very purple. Text: Slam evil! The Phantom June 7

lol, okay, okay. This one is definitely not horror. Except maybe that one scene.
J does an online movie night with friends every week, so I was on my own.
What's a movie that I love, but he will definitely not be sad about missing?

J has one of those jobs that sometimes makes his brain turn to mush.
So when we were looking at the challenge lists, he said, "Oooh! Vatican horror!"
I thought that was oddly specific, so I checked the list.
It said Vacation Horror.

While it isn’t as memorable or as campy as the original 1992 film, I thought this remake was still solid for what it is. Despite being predictable and a little too slow at times, but it’s still well made and both Maika Monroe & Mary Elizabeth Winstead gave great performances. 3/5 #31DaysOfHorror
Even though I’ve seen variations of this type of vampire story before, director Brad Anderson still makes a really engaging horror film that both tackles its themes quite well and has strong turns from its cast. Michelle Monaghan & Finlay Wojtak-Hissong were the standouts. 3.5/5 #31DaysOfHorror
The First Omen (2024) is a chilling, politically urgent feminist horror that uses faith to expose institutional control over women’s bodies. 4/5.
