Acil servis ekipleri, Griffiths’in cansız bedenini 17. kattaki dairesinin balkonunun altında buldu. Polis ekipleri, daire içinde herhangi bir arbede ya da zorlanma izine rastlanmadığını açıkladı. Ancak olayda üçüncü bir kişinin dahli olup olmadığı, yürütülen adli incelemenin ardından netleşecek. Yetkililer, kesin ölüm nedeninin kapsamlı bir otopsi süreci sonrası belirleneceğini ve bu sürecin aylar sürebileceğini bildirdi. Eski Eşiyle Süren Hukuki Anlaşmazlık Dikkat Çekti Griffiths’in ölümü, Taylandlı eski eşiyle devam ettiği belirtilen mali anlaşmazlığın gölgesinde meydana geldi. İddialara göre eski eşi, birlikte işlettikleri bir şirketten 500 bin sterlin çalmakla suçlanıyordu. Geçen yıl ise Griffiths’in, eski eşinin şikayeti üzerine, onun bilgisi olmadan arsa ve şirket hisselerini satmak amacıyla belgede sahtecilik yaptığı iddiasıyla gözaltına alındığı öne sürüldü. Griffiths suçlamaları reddetmiş ve sorgunun ardından serbest bırakılmıştı.
