Something to bear in mind if you’re heading to west London - the Albert Bridge has just been closed to motor vehicle traffic due to maintenance concerns. Hopefully, they’ll get it up and running soon - the Hammersmith Bridge has been closed since 2019!

Man sieht ein Flussbett mit ein paar kleineren und größeren Lastkähnen, überspannt von der weiß gestrichenen Albert Bridge, die pittoresk viktorianisch wirkt. Dahinter schimmern dunkelgrün hohe Bäume und ein Hochhaus im Hintergrund. Die Brücke, von der hier nur der auf der Chelsea-Seite gelegene Pfeiler mit seinen Drahtseilen zu sehen ist, ist eine Kettenbrücke aus dem Jahr 1872. Sie verbindet die Stadteile Chelsea und Battersea.

Always a welcome sight when returning to London. The Albert Bridge was built in 1873 however it was soon realised the structure was unsound so the famous civil engineer Joseph Bazalgette was brought in to convert it into a suspension bridge.
