The blue walls of the gallery provided a vibrant backdrop to highlight details of the classical, white sculptures and plaster casts. Previously, the walls were painted a terracotta colour which was exposed when the freizes were removed.
The presence of absence. In 2024, Cork's Crawford Art Galleryβs iconic collection of Canova casts, freizes and relief sculptures left the building for the first time in 140 years to accommodate a redevelopment of the gallery.
