With too much money, the woeful widow of the Winchester rifle maker believed the #ghosts of people killed were after her and the only way to stop it was to constantly make nonsensical additions onto her house.

A tractor ploughs a field in North Norfolk near marshland followed by a flock of gulls. The field to the left has already been ploughed and the rich soil will be left for some time until being replanted with fresh crops. To the right, the field’s crop has been harvested and awaits the plough. The gulls are ready to pounce as the plough turns up worms and other insects from the earth. Fields stretch towards the horizon, broken by hedges and small trees in the typical East Anglian coastal landscape.

A group of four traditional Romany or Vardo caravans with rounded roofs and colourful wheels drawn by horses stand in a narrow road waiting for traffic to clear outside our home below a canopy of trees.
The caravans were once used as living quarters by the Romany community and were highly decorated inside but they are no longer used for year-round living and are more likely to be shown at cultural gatherings held throughout the year, the best known of which is Appleby Horse Fair in the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria, North West England.
This group belong to a family based in London and they bring them out for trips in Surrey and Kent each summer. Some resent their presence but older members of local communities remember their contribution to society in the past and welcome seeing them.

Once a regular sight on our roads but now a rarity, a group of traditional iconic Romany Vardo caravans passes our village home after spending a night on the village green. An annual event.

"Folly" was her name. She was a midlife crisis
(mine not #Lyngo) impulse buy on eBay back in 2007. She went to live at the beach, via eBay again, in 2011. Owning an #icon was an honor but expensive.
She is missed 🧡

Photo: A north façade of a building designed by Moshe Safdie backgrounded by a blue sky and foregrounded with its name engraved in a retaining wall: "Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts." Beyond that, I cannot describe it any better than the Center's website describes its home: "The north façade features arched stainless steel walls that rise from the ground like a wave."
No lies detected.

Also by Moshe Safdie:
The National Gallery of Canada, the Quebec Museum of Civilization, and Vancouver Library Square. Other notable cultural works include the Khalsa Heritage Memorial Complex, the national museum of the Sikh people in Punjab, India; the United States Institute of Peace Headquarters on the Mall in Washington, DC (recently hijacked by DOGE & MAGA); and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The ornament depicts a slender, winged woman in flowing garments flying forever just inches in front of the massive car, her arms out stretched to hold a wheel. Part of the dark red hood is visible to, as well as portions of the chrome grill, some of the forward facing lights. The Packard emblem is shiny brass in the center of the grill..

The fenders are a dark red swooping over the tires, which are creamy white white walls to match the door and side panels. The running board is the same dark red, except for the step portion beneath the door, which is chrome. A spare wheel is mounted just forward of the passenger door, along the long hood. The hub caps are chrome, of course, with Packard branding at the hub and a complex chrome spoke system connecting it to the rim and tire. The rim is a brighter red, matching the pin striping on the fenders.

Cellphone Photo: a classic (which is to say, slightly younger than the photographer) Chevy pickup sits in left-facing profile on some grass next to the attached garage of a house under a light cover of snow. A pad of flat concrete squares is in the foreground. Most of the snow has melted from the concrete. The snow is patchy across the rest of the yard. The trees in the home's backyard showing over the privacy fence are free of snow and, for the most part, leaves; but a few of them are still green. Winter has not set in (and might not), but it's shown its potential.
Colors: The pickup is a dark shade of red that appears to have been darker (and shinier) 70+ years ago; white snow caps the hood, roof, and left front fender, as well as the roof of the white-shingled garage. The driver's side window is rolled down (or perhaps missing altogether. The tires are blackwalls, and appear to be inflated.

From Wikipedia: The Advance-Design [was] a light and medium duty truck series by Chevrolet, their first major redesign after WWII. … It was billed as a larger, stronger, and sleeker design in comparison to the earlier AK Series. First available on June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the Advance-Design model.

Photo: A tourist rests an arm on the open starboard side window of a "streetcar" on pneumatic tires and not on tracks on the main drag of Samuel Clemens' home town. The streetcar is red on the bottom and dark green on top. Branches from a tree at the corner seem to overhang the streetcar with green leaves. Also on the corner in the lower left quadrant of the frame, a fireplug has been painted to look like an old timey fireman. Between the fireplug and the streetcar, a late model black Chevrolet humongo pickup truck is parked. The building on the opposite corner, behind the streetcar, is beige. Its second story tall, narrow windows are arched. A mural peeks into the frame to remind visitors that this was the town where Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher began their adventures.
When I fed Zoltar, who lives in a glass box just inside one of the stores (not shown) some coins, he printed a little yellow card that told me, "your friends admire how dependable you are." You are welcome.
Zoltar also told me that when I am "approached with opportunities that do not align with what [I am] familiar with, [I] often turn them down out of fear" and that I am "hindering [my] personal growth" when I do that. Fuck you, Zoltar. Just sayin'.
