In the north jousting games are popular, as well as the Grand Magic Games which sometimes feature animals.
In the Empire gladiator games are waning in popularity but still practiced. Horse shows are big in Dahinar, and villages often have goat or dog shows.

Zaki is notably quiet. Yan comments he "walks like a cat". Only his leather armor makes sound, but not much. He talks little and rarely raises his voice.
Serara can't sneak and the tins and bottles in her bag makes a little sound. And she has a strong voice.

Zaki would be a good detective, but also a red herring because he's an assassin. He's not the killer, tho everyone believes he is. Xhavann is probably the victim; his thieving ways caught up to him, and I can't make up my mind who is the killer. Cayenne, maybe.

Horses are by far the most common, but in the rockier parts of the Empire, big goats or rams can be used for pulling carts and transporting wares. Not riding, though.
In the north, it's horses and oxen for humans. Wood elves mostly use deers and elks ->

Simplified, if a creature originates from Gaia it's an animal. If it comes from Pangea it's a monster. If it comes from the demon world it's a demon. If it comes from another world, it's classified on a case by case basis, as the worlds are mostly unknown.

Serara is very stubborn, sometimes to her own detriment. Even if she knows she's wrong, she can get in her own way because she's relentless in her stubbornness.
Zaki is also stubborn, but usually knows when to give in and compromise.

The Royal High Guard - the Empress' personal body guards - have a special type of tigers as mounts. They're bigger than regular tigers and have paler fur. They're hard to keep which is why they haven't spread outside the capital. Horses are still superior.

M enjoys watching gladiator games and theatre plays from the luxury of her private box, sipping a glass of expensive wine. She also has an interest in the sciences, particularly artifact making and alchemy, the latter proving more difficult than expected.

As a doctor, Serara deals with plants and herbs on a daily basis and there's some interactions with them throughout the story.
Zaki also knows his way around plants, specifically those that are poisonous.

FMC Serara's home town is known for two things; horses and wine, both important exports. The hills are sprawling with rows of grapes, tended to by both slaves and workers. Serara is not much of a wine drinker, but she wouldn't say no to a bunch of grapes! 😊

I have many medicinal plants, but one Serara uses early in #Ame_NephilimWIP is a fungus called pus morel. Slices of dried morel is placed on a wound to prevent infection, or to draw out pus from an infected wound. It's an highly sought after plant, perfect to trade with.

#Ame_NephilimWIP started as a roleplaying adventure, but when I started to outline it to a book and streamline and cut out unnecessary bits I found it hard to write from the player character's POV. Didn't sit right with me, so with their consent I cut them out. They make cameos 😜

The water lily is the symbol of Mother Nature, one of the oldest gods who presides all flora and fauna, growth and birth. One myth claims She was born from a giant water lily. Many have tried to find Her birthplace, as the petals are said to revive the dead.

The main villain of #Ame_NephilimWIP dresses in an elaborate outfit reminiscent of a high priest's robe, deep red in color and richly embroidered. She looks dramatic and intimidating and flawless.
I need to draw her, but I haven't quite figured out exactly how her robes look. 😅

Ghost mushroom is a glowing little mushroom growing in deep caves, illuminating the dark with spooky greenish light. Most people shun them because of the glow, but they're edible and quite tasty. The brighter they glow, the better they taste.

Antanta, commonly known as shy-guy, is a small pink flower with long leaves. If touched, they will curl up and the flower close and droop, making it look like a person hiding their head in their hands. It's a medicinal plant used primarily as a painkiller.

The government in the Empire is mostly stable, even with the war looming on the horizon. There's a small group of shapeshifters rebelling against the mistreatment and old laws declaring them inhuman. My characters are not involved, barely know about it.

Thistle wins by far, because fairy magic is OP 😆 They can do almost anything - with a few exceptions.
Saan isn't weak, just average by human standards, but he's no match for Thistle's otherworldly magic.

While it's not impossible to learn magic on your own once it's awakened in you, it's much easier with a mentor. Saan grew up with his mother who taught him the basics and then passed on her codex with spells and tricks.

Empress Anora has an elected council - one of the changes for the better she made - that help her run the empire. All individual countries within the Empire have their own monarchs, with their councils, some elected, some not.

None of the major characters in #Ame_NephilimWIP have magic, except for Thistle (fairy magic) and Saan (elemental, book2). Thistle's magic defy human magic; they can do almost anything they want that human mages can't (with limitations), while Saan - a wood mage - can heal and manipulate plants.

Magic is not a big part of #Ame_NephilimWIP, as none of the characters are mages (until Book2), but it is a part of the world and will have an impact on the story.
In #Ame_MagelingWIP, all major characters are mages and the plot revolves heavily around magic in big and small ways.
-> to not only listen to the common people, but actually hear them and help. She's reduced taxes for the poor, improved education and increased trade with the North.
Now at 28, she stands on the brink of war after 400 years of peace, a task she's not ready for.

Serara is lesbian. She's known for years. Everyone important in her life knows and she's comfortable.
Zaki is demi-sexual and panromantic. He's still figuring it out.
