Awe You see, he does not speak to me but sings in the language of birds. Look — everything implores me to listen. Wind chimes translate sea-blue murmurs of the sky and lightning is when God sneezes hard. In my old worn hands, the pebble that you scoop from the river’s deep bed is not just a stone but a solid gray shard of sweetwater heart and lung. It has seen the birth and death of many fish, it knows the lost legends of the deep. It pulses and flows with the pull of the earth, its skin has been sewn out of rain. The snail leaves silvered slices of stories in her wake, histories that are waiting to be told. And the ladybug’s dots are a constellation, a map of the stars in spring. Fireflies transmit secrets of summer’s end in Morse code and symbols of light. About how the sunset threads skeins of rust into gold and the trees show such grace in decay. Sometimes you might think the moon’s just the moon but when is it ever not a portal into lucid astonishment the temple your dreams breathe through

Two wells of nothingness hang on hooks await heated water of the day to fill them up, to be emptied sip by sip, again to hang in anticipation of usefulness. My soul is a kitchen sink.

"Life is boring when there's no edge to it." she says. (ii) "There should be summat to fight for! Who needs an easy road, without people and obstacles, so there's nothing to work around, nothing to tell tales, weep, wail and witter, scrimp, scrape and scratter, gripe, grieve and grapple about?"
