A small bird with green upperparts, a yellow face with olive markings, white wing bars, and pale underparts is sitting on a branch near our front deck. This is a male Black-throated Green Warbler. He’s one of the many warblers we see in our backyard. The Black-throated Green Warbler breeds in a wide variety of habitats throughout its range. In much of the Adirondack region, breeding pairs are most commonly found in coniferous forests or mixed woods. Our property is mostly mixed woods.
For the Alt #BirdOfTheDay theme #Green, I offer a #BlackThroatedGreenWarbler. Our backyard near Lake Placid in the #AdirondackMountains of upstate New York.
