Photo: Two belfries atop the Basilica Estrela are separated by a wide stone roof. Against the azure sky, the 18th century belfries resemble sugary wedding cake toppers in their baroque flourishes. As nearly identical twins on either side of the basilica's front wall, they add to the structure's neoclassical balance. Both bell tower's display large clocks on this, their back, side. The only readily noticeable difference between the two is that the one our left has two bells mounted on red yokes (a smaller one over a larger one), and the one our right has only one bell in a matching red yoke.
Also visible between the two towers is the backside of the peak of the church's front facade. Beyond that, trees fill a park that stretches towards a horizon of modern urban commercial buildings. A jet trail spans most the blue sky between the belfries.

Photo: Belfries of the Jerónimos Monastery and Church. Twin pointed belfries or spires rise on the left, a rounded definitely-a-belfry dominates the right, all three white against a brilliant blue sky. The monastery & church were built very early in the 16th century, according to Wikipedia, in the Portuguese architectural style that became known as Manueline.
