A beautiful Fieldfare in the Orchard at #AttinghamParkNT at the weekend. Roughly the same size as a Blackbird. Speckled streaky chest feathers. Brown mottled body with a gray head. A striking attractive bird. Attingham always leave the fallen apples for birds and other wildlife. We look forward each year to the arrival of Fieldfares and Redwings to the orchard.
One of a few Fieldfares in the orchard at #AttinghamParkNT at the weekend. A mixture of Fieldfares Redwings and Blackbirds all tucking into the fallen apples.🌱🪶

The oregano I’ve neglected and let spread further in our garden beds than intended each year brings so many birds when it’s at seed, I can’t see myself taking any of it out. 🌱 #PNWgarden #ChaosGarden #BirdFeed
A very friendly Robin taking food from my hand. The other picture shows how beautiful this Robin borb really is. Lots of Robins and blackbirds around. It was extremely cold there today.
Robin, round and fluffy against the cold. This one was very brave to land on my hand.
A lovely morning spent at #AttinghamParkNT. And a special moment for me, a Robin taking food from my hand. 🪶❄️

Coal tit on peanut dispensing bird feeder. Very small bird with black and white head.
Review of the year. Jan 2025. Does anyone else find it difficult to capture a coal tit? The flighty little devils are never at rest.

Large Rook, black coloured feathers. A big beak built for digging. One of my favourite birds.
Rook sitting on a fence post, the fence surrounds cattle. Plenty of food for this one and his feathered family.

UK Robin perching on a old fruit tree branch. Brown and fawn coloured feathers. Bright red face and breast. You can get quite close to Robins at this time of year.

Female Green Woodpecker searching for food this morning next to the river, at Attingham Park National Trust.
First bird of the day at Attingham Park National Trust this morning. Green Woodpecker. Really difficult to get a decent picture because it's a bird with places to go. 😁

Leucism Leucism is an inherited absence of pigment cells, and can be total (causing whiteness of the whole plumage) or partial (causing whiteness in just parts). The white pattern is present throughout a bird’s life and does not change with age. Over three-quarters of the sightings reported through the BTO Abnormal Plumage Survey have been categorised as ‘leucistic’, with Blackbirds and House Sparrows most frequently spotted. We have used the term ‘leucism’ to describe plumage abnormalities where feathers become paler or turn white unexpectedly, but where eyes retain their normal dark colour. The latter feature has been used to distinguish leucistic birds from albinistic ones, which have red or pink eyes, owing to blood being visible through colourless tissue. While these broad categorisations have proved useful when recording birds at distance in gardens, there are subtleties to discover. BTO information.
Black and white feathers. On the shopping center carpark looking for tidbits.
I've been trying to get some pics of this beauty for a couple of weeks. I've seen other Crows in the area with leucistic markings.

He's become a repeat visitor so I've named him Cello the Chickadee.
