Year 3 wrapped up #BritishScienceWeek with another exciting investigation to explore forces! We predicted which material would be best for a parachute before making prototypes from foam, net, paper, foil and denim. We then tested them outside and were suprised by some results. #ScienceatWelbeck

Don't miss RSB president Professor Sir Ian Boyd's argument that Government research priorities often fail to recognise the intangible benefits of blue skies research - in the latest issue of The Biologist!

Crowd-powered research - RFI We have developed open-source tools to support the aggregation, visualisation, and analysis of citizen science data, and shown that citizen science can produce valuable annotations for training and finetuning models for complex 3D biological imaging datasets.

During #BritishScienceWeek we’re celebrating the 18,000 volunteers who helped the Franklin analyse millions of 3D images - accelerating data analysis, helping finetune models and revealing new biological insights.

One of my favourite #BritishScienceWeek moments:

Went to a local primary school, talked about #ResearchIntegrity, reproducibility and Electronic Lab Notebooks (because - why not?)

First hand goes up ✋

Me: Do you have a question?
Child: No, I have a comment

10/10 - no notes

Really enjoyed supporting these #BritishScienceWeek activities 🥼

#AI topic attracted lots of attention - children really wanted to share their thoughts

The Research Engagement Team have so many ideas for sharing their work - but also show teamwork and comradeship in explaining the work of others ⭐

It’s the tail end of #BritishScienceWeek which seems a great opportunity to think about great books about science that we can get into the hands of kids.

What books would you recommend for science loving children?

A new record. Bath Astronomers have just cancelled its 17th stargazing event in a row!!! All due to the weather.

We only count events which are 100% weather dependent. We've still been managing lots of outreach especially during #BritishScienceWeek.

Perhaps Saturday night will go ahead. Fingers xx
