The full moon rising between two towers on Cape Clear island, off the west coast of Cork. On the left a signal tower built during the Napoleonic wars, on the right the old lighthouse, designed by the great George Halpin, built in 1818 & abandoned in 1854. The full moon is between both, at the height of the top of the towers. The silhouette of a buzzard can be seen flying in front of the moon.
I’ve been trying for years to capture a full moon rising behind these towers on Cape Clear.
As I saw the moon rise over the horizon I began to laugh manically, knowing that after all this time it had finally worked out for me…
