The beetle has slender legs that are dark with a reddish purple hue, it's head is darkly iridescent with an oil-like sheen and has powerful crecent shaped mandibles and shiny hemispherical eyes. The Pronotum, the area just behind the head is broadly ovoid and has a similar iridescent sheen that the head has. The elytra, the hardened wing that covers the beetle's flying wings and abdomen, is a bright metallic green.

This was a good year for #Beetles. The Fiery Searcher, Calosoma scrutator, hanging out at the #BugLight.

A slender tan beetle with dark brown longitudinal stripes resting on pale painted wood siding. The beetle has very long, slender antennae which are a dark brown. The beetle's dark brown legs are arrayed to either side of it's slender body. The beetle's body is slender and marked with 3 longitudinal dark brown stripes on the head and pronotum (the area behind the head) the Elytra, the hardened forewing, has 5 stripes and ends with 2 bifurcated spines.

It's been a really good year for Longhorn #Beetle ( #Cerambycidae ) visitors to the #BugLight. This is Hippopsis lemniscata, not a large beetle, but that antennae to body ratio though😻
