Striped racer. Looks like a skinnier garter snake, black with yellow stirpe down the length of it’s side, but lacks a garter snake’s central stripe and has much larger eyes. Evolved to chase down and eat blue belly lizards. This one is relaxing on warm tan-colored sunlit dirt.

Speaking of weather changes, I was rambling in marin this weekend & started out wet from fog/mist but ended up with a sunburn by the time I left.
Probably why I had the trail to myself for the first hour, refreshingly quiet along the creek.
