This casting of Spider-Man started with the "Homecoming" release, it would be released in recolors as Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man proto costume and Spider-Man Miles Morales
The Spider-Punk is a sports coupe with a black cowling representing his signature black leather jacket. The electric guitar deco on the sides is reminiscent of the classic Hot Wheels Twang Thang.
Ghost Spider or Gwen Stacy gets a sporty little coupe with deco elements from her costume, including her hoodie as the roof of the car. The rear wheels are colored like her sneakers in the Spider-Verse movies.
This is the first Spider-Man casting with a black costume colorway. It's decidedly not Venom and the basic black makes this casting look good
There are a lot of #Marvel #CharacterCars, so this is going to take a couple of posts to get through them. Starting with #Spider-Man. The second casting (posted with recolors) is much better than the first (the black costume). #GhostSpider and #Spider-Punk capture their characters perfectly.
Bugs Bunny character car is a sportscar with retro styling like an American muscle car
The Roadrunner looks like a supercar that sets land speed records
Wile E. Coyote reminds me of an El Camino. The giant red ACME rocket just screams #Gaslands.
#LooneyTunes #CharacterCars are very cartoony #diecast, as you might imagine. #BugsBunny has a sportscar with a very cool retro vibe. The classic duo of #Roadrunner and #WileECoyote are a supersonic car and utility wagon/pickup, respectively. Best of all is the ACME rocket in the truck bed.
The Mosasaurus resembles an armored amphibious assault vehicle with a scratched up hull, open top cab and cargo in the rear.
The Stegadon resembles an armored personnel carrier with ablative shielding along the spine of the vehicle.
The next franchise I'm covering is #JurassicPark #CharacterCars. As you might imagine, a lot of them are dinosaurs and kinda goofy, if you ask me. However, being a sucker for 6-wheeled #diecast vehicles, I like the Mosasaurus amphibious assault vehicle and the Stegadon armored personnel carrier.
The Space Ranger Alpha Buzz Lightyear seems to be based on how Buzz appears in the Toy Story films.
The XL-01 Buzz Lightyear is based on how the character appears in the LIghtyear movie, with more muted colors and "realistic" design
Izzy Hawthorne is an off road rugged utility vehicle with spare tires in the rear.
There was a series of #Disney #CharacterCars for the Lightyear movie. The two Buzz cars were standouts, as was the one for Izzy. Having not seen the movie, I can't judge how well these cars represent the characters, but I can say that they are pretty cool #diecast cars.
Buzz Lightyear is a sportscar with a long front end, this may be a look that I'm a sucker for, as evidenced by the Maleficent and Jafar selections
WALL-E is a small utility truck with a little dump truck rear and hydraulic lifters in the front. It reminds me of a Japanese K-truck. It would have been better if the treads were fully sculpted and the wheels hidden.
The two best #Pixar #CharacterCars are #WALL-E and #BuzzLightyear. Their technological nature lends itself to making great sci-fi #diecast. WALL-E is especially characterful with great detailed deco, though I don't love the way the treads and wheels were implemented.
Maleficent is a sportscar with green and purple accents. Her horns look great as side wings and her staff is an excellent hood ornament.
The Jafar sportscar is sleek and aggressive with a great color scheme.
The Tinkerbelle is an open wheel racer with fairy wing spoilers and pixie dust nitro booster.
Daisy Duck classy sports coupe is the perfect convertible to go out for a ride along the coastline.
Moving onto the #Disney #CharacterCars. There are a lot of them, but I like maybe half a dozen. The #Maleficent and #Jafar share design cues with one another, both are aggressive looking sportscars. #TinkerBelle and #DaisyDuck are definitely more whimsical. Each of them represent the character well.
The color combo on this recolor of a previously released Batgirl works so well. I'm not sold on the stitching, however.
Another recolor, the original Harley Quinn doesn't pop as nicely as this one. It's much darker and muted by comparison.
Wonder Woman does not fare well in Character Cars. I see the transparent body as a nod to the classic Invisible Jet, which I really appreciate.
I mean, I'm still not convinced by the cape-as-spoiler thing, but I love that little golden Super-S icon part break on the side of the car.
I've got a soft spot for #DCSuperheroGirls, the original shorts were so good and my daughters liked them. The #CharacterCars were based on the later iteration of them, but are still great. Mostly, they are recolors of previous castings, but they really work.
The Catwoman has a great color and has some design cues from the classic TV series Batmobile.
This Joker is the Batman: The Animated Series version and it's really good. I love the chattering teeth, the flag guns, the ridiculous hood ornament and whatever is happening in the back. But that hair piece...it is so distracting and really takes away from the overall look of the vehicle.
Deadshot looks like it could have been an AcceleRacer, I think. It's got this 90s looking sci-fi vibe.
Killer Croc, with the paint removed, rusted and dusted looks like something that would be built in the Wastelands.
There are some #Batman Rogues Gallery #CharacterCars that are almost good, IMO.
#Catwoman is probably the best of the lot as a sleek sports car. The alternate #Joker is a great car, but that hairpiece totally detracts. #Deadshot and #KillerCroc are great for #Gaslands out the box.
The Joker is a wild look rat rod like car, with a grinning front grill, neon green exhaust and a screaming purple body. It almost works, but is just too chaotic in the end.
The Riddler looks like they just put a hat on a rejected Batmobile concept.
I'll be honest, this almost ended up in the "I like it" category. It's almost goofy enough to be cool, but that ginormous top hat is just a bit too much for me.
Two-Face should have been half luxury and half japlopy. Instead it's two halves, neither of which look good as a car. I get that this is the character not his car, so it's an acid burned half. I understand why they did it, I just don't like it.
The #Batman Rogues Gallery #CharacterCars. These #diecast villains are largely a miss for me. The #Joker is pretty wild, so it's not the worst. That goes to #Two-Face, they did an acid-burn half instead of a jalopy. I really don't like the hats on #Riddler and #Penguin (I like the monocle though)
The first Batman Character Car is a very stylized futuristic sports car with a long front hood. The driver sits all the way in the back and has very limited visibility.
The Batrod is a rat rod with a gigantic blown engine, almost reminiscent of the FusionBusta. The ears, cowl and cape give it a comical (not comic-like) appearance.
The Superfriends Batman is a color variant of the Justice League Batman. I actually quite like it, but include it here for completeness sake.
Then there are the #Batman #CharacterCars that I don't love so much. The first car doesn't read as Batman to me and doesn't make sense as a car. The Batrod looks like Batman got turned into a car. It has a nose.
The Batrod and a Superfriends Batman are included in the aforementioned 6-pack.
The Armored Batman looks like a heavy beast of car, tough enough to drive through brick walls.
The Justice League Batman is a sleek sports coupe with a carbon fiber front end. Can't really see in this pic, but the rear spoiler is the bat symbol.
I don't know Batman Rebirth is all about, but this has such a cyberpunk vibe that I absolutely love. I don't even mind the bat ear air scoops on the hood.
I know, I know it's got a cowl, ears and a cape. It's like as if a muscle car cosplaying as Batman. But, I love how it echoes the Batmobile from The Batman.
There are several Batman #CharacterCars. The best ones are the Armored Batman, Justice League Batman, Batman Rebirth and The Batman. They look like Batmobiles even with the bat ears and capes.
There's a 6-pack that have all four, as well as two others that I'll discuss in the next post.
The next batch of #CharacterCars is from the DC Universe. There's a lot and it'll take several posts. I'm not covering all of them, but still a fair amount. This series ran from 2012-2024 and even with multiple releases of the same casting, there were still plenty of unique castings.
I had an earlier thread about #CharacterCars in general. Just want to add that part of my fascination is that we will likely never see them again. Given #Mattel numerous releases of the same #casting, that's something.
For your reference.

I am fascinated by #HotWheels #CharacterCars. They are #diecast cars based on characters from across many IPs. Sometimes they look like cars that a character drives, sometimes they look like the character as a car. I prefer the former.
This thread is where I'll post my thoughts on various cars.
