On the left of this photo is the entrance to an ancient dock, now disused, at Packetboat Lane; a bridge takes the tow path over it. On the right is Highline Yachting boatyard. Purple Haze is the boat moored nearest to us. A stray mallow brightens the towpath in the foreground while in the far distance is a girder footbridge across the canal for the Slough arm. We'll come to that later.
