#CommodoreFormat looking glorious in issue 11. 88%. None too shabs.
#CommodoreFormat issue 6, with a Last Ninja 3 / Shadow Dancer cover, had a load of decent games reviewed. LETC was one of them - 90%. I love me some old school CF.

CF1 Back to the Future II review.
#CommodoreFormat Issue 1 - I remember it well, in fact, I have just read the review IRL with my own eyes and hands. Mmmmmmmm lovely. 59% is low IMHO. But look how glorious CF looks. And it was nearly 100 pages! <<< 1/2
CF 2 Wings of Fury review.
CF 2 Wings of Fury review.
#CommodoreFormat Issue 2 and Stevie J dropped a 77% clanger on WoF citing jerky scrolling and the need to land (!) as negatives. The scrolling seems fine to me. How glorious does this review look, though? Love it. It is 85% and more for me. Great little game. The animation is sublime!

CF 13 Turbocharge Review
#CommodoreFormat Issue 13 and the Cover, no less and a stonking 93% review, with the only downer being that Level 5 is a bit like Level 1. It is a racing game... 🙃
CF 27 Locomotion Review
#CommodoreFormat Issue 27 and the mag is in its do I change up my design, or not phase... Clur awarded a score of 74% which is too low, IMHO. There is so much more game here than that. And it was only £3.99.
CF 1 Deliverance Review
#CommodoreFormat issue 1, no less, gave a paltry half-page spread to SL2 and said it's graphics were shit. Eh? Mr Houghton was clearly up to something... I always found the gameplay to be lacking in both SL1 and 2, the GFX, SFX and presentation were spot on... Ye..?
CF 2 Rick Dangerous II Review
CF 2 Rick Dangerous II Review
How glorious does #CommodoreFormat look compared to ugly as fug ugly Zzap! above..? So much nostalgia and happy memories wrapped up in these pages. And just look at those screenshots! GLORIOUS! I think I should probably get into Level 3 then..?
MOAR SPREAD SHEETING!
Oooooooooooh, what's this - more work in Excel that has nothing to do with any work whatsoever..? YES! #C64 #CommodoreFormat
CF 1 Subbuteo Review
A much more balanced and sane review from #CommodoreFormat and Andy Roberts or Dyer, unsure. I think AD, as AR wasn't there yet..? No idea! But a lovely-looking and paced review. Almost double the Zzap! score - what gives?

#CommodoreFormat was and still is a glorious magazine to read. It was great as a teenager and it is hugely nostalgic as an adult. These photos were taken this morning of my actual purchased copy of CF1 from JCR in Plympton Oct '90. #C64 journalism at its least up-its-own-arse-ist... Halcyon Days.

CF 27 Crystal Kingdom Dizzy Review.
#CommodoreFormat Issue 27 and CKD and Dizzy is the Cover Star of the issue. CF was in its changéd phase, sadly, so the pages don't look as hallowed, but still, nice review. 73%
CF 2 King's Bounty Review.
#CommodoreFormat Issue 2 and I remember reading this issue (a cartoon / realistic Rick Dangerous on the cover) fastiduously and seeing KB and thinking - I can't quite work out what is going on. It was also disk only, which immediately precluded me from playing it. Kati Hamza gave it 73% >>> 1/2
OK, so, you'll be seing this tomorrow, but, I NEVER KNEW! I was reading the physical copy of #CommodoreFormat issue 2 today and saw this reviewed. It sounded interesting, but the screenies didn't give me enough. I booted the #C64 version just now. It's FLIPPIN' #HoM&M !!! Whaaaaaaaaa?

#CommodoreFormat in its gaudy minging we need to switch up our game (incorrect!) look, give the game a surprisingly good 85%.
CF Issue 1 Satan Review.
CF Issue 1 Satan Review.
#CommodoreFormat Issue 1 - near the back of the near-100 page first issue of CF sits the review of Satan. I always thought it *looked* lovely. And it does. It also plays perfectly fine. If you've never played it - give it a whirl. Andy Dyer was spot on. 78%. Correct.

#CommodoreFormat Issue 3 (Chase HQ II: SCI!) and Sean Masterson thought it were reyt good, Lad. (Sorry - I've recently just spent hours playing "Thank Goodness You're Here!"...
CF 10 Budget Reviews.
#CommodoreFormat and I'm not sure what tea Roger Frames had been smoking, but 82% for budget Armalyte and 68% for Budget Hawkeye is just nonsense. Grow up!

#CommodoreFormat issue 15 saw Roger Frames take a look at the budget version of the game. 75%. I think that's too much!

CF 37 Alien³ Review.
#CommodoreFormat and Andy Dyer, Gawd love him, gave a more muted and on-point review of 78%. The main sprite is just so big, you have barely any reaction time to deal with anything. Still it "feels" and looks nice, otherwise and the tunnels are cool.
CF 4 Diplomacy Review.
CF 4 Diplomacy Review.
#CommodoreFormat showing how it's done. Mr Houghton giving an honest review of the game. I think he is spot on. I should say though, the point of the computer game *is* the computer opponents so 2 out of 3 of his negatives are awry. I think this is closer to 89%... I nearly lost the whole morning!

CF 16 Super Space Invaders Review.
#CommodoreFormat issue 16, who is Linda Barker..? 👀 Either way - SSI got a whopping score of 92% with the only negative being - it's a bit confusing..? Eh?

CF 4 The Spy Who Loved Me Review.
#CommodoreFormat were a little more forgiving and Kati Hamza knows what she is talking about. 60% is much closer to the real thing. A bit gutting for a £10 game mind you, but, seriously, hitting the cones on Level 1 is really well animated!

I had just turned 13 and #CommodoreFormat was released. Me and all my #C64 Buds at school loved it and bought it religiously for some 3+ years, until it only had 1 review in it each month and was about 30 pages. Issue 1 had revolution (see above) and Tau Ceti as freebies and "Rebel" - all worthy.
CF 15 Budget Reviews.
Even Roger Frames in #CommodoreFormat issue 15, gave the game 72%. I'm still not convinced it is a *good* game, but I will play more after feeding the Frips. But it's better than 35%. The artwork and detailing showcased above is worth more than that itself (for a DL fan).
On this day in 1991 I bought my first magazine and it changed my life. #CommodoreFormat brought joy for years, inspiring me to create a diskzine for the #C64, the very beginning of a journey to where I find myself now. Here’s the retrospective I wrote on the blog: oink.blog/2023/10/17/c... ⌨️🕹️📼🐽

A stack of CF mags.
My original (obviously!) collection of #CommodoreFormat mags from the early 90s. Issues 1 through 20, I am curiously missing issues 21, 22 and 23, then I have 24 through 33. Where the prittle jar of doom dada dun day are those three? 👀 Bizarre Inc. indeed. #C64 magazine treasure!
...start your square moving, it won't stop until it hits a wall.
There is also a time limit to each stage.
So... it's trickier than you think. 😅😅😅

Bombjack, looking like wrongly-outfitted Homelander in red suit and leggings, with blue cape, pants and boots and helmet, grinning as he grabs a bomb. The Elite logo makes us all groan inwardly and outwardly. It can only be the C64 loading screen for Mighty Bombjack. It is actually pretty good (the loading screen)...

Today, we have MBJ because I found a scan of the #CommodoreFormat "Preview" and it listed its top 20 #C64 games. This was on it. Oh-ho, hold on a bloody minute, I said - and booted it up. I was right. It's friggin' twonk this is. That awful SID "tune". Garbage. #Elite
#BackLog64 Rick Dangerous 2
The original was great, if unfair, but the sequel, I thought, was marvellous. Glorious usage of the #C64 palette, 5 very different levels, lovely story & I remember fondly reading about it in #CommodoreFormat an' I want want WANTS eeet! Proper, decent platformer. Bravo!
