It is the first ASCOBANS meeting of 2026 📑 The 6th Meeting of the Steering Group for the ASCOBANS Species Action Plan for the North-East Atlantic Common Dolphin (Common Dolphin Group or CDG), is held online from 13–14 January 2026. Across the two days, the CDG will review progress under the species action plan, hear about complementary initiatives, and focus on what it will take to move the implementation of conservation actions forward. Risso's Dolphin with its distinctive scratch marks. The older the animal the whiter it gets. The marks help to actually identify individual animals.

Humback Whale starting to dive. The marks on the underside of the tale are unique to each animal and help to identify them. This was a new animal to Scotland and the 100th individual Humpback whale added to the catalogue

Swim past by a Humpback Whale clearly showing its nostrils on top of the head. They have the largest fore-limb in the whole animal kingdom.
