🚨Attention #BOSpoli + #MApoli
As a lifelong #QualityOfLife advocate in Boston, I pride myself on being ahead of the curve and truly understanding the impact of these issues on marginalized communities.
That's where I differ from the Nativist print press and local TV media—they only show up for big conversations after the fact. I call it yellow tape journalism. But I have these conversations years before, as I know the disproportionate impact they have on MY #CommunitiesOfColor. Just like the presidential election, I predict the next mayoral election will have some surprises.
Just to be clear, I'm not against bike lanes, but using Black & brown communities as guinea pigs for far-white pet projects is unacceptable. One size doesn't fit all, and many of these projects often don't belong where they are placed in communities of color.
#VotersOfColor are not happy and have become anti-bike lane because of it. It could've been AVOIDED if @MayorWu admin truly valued listening to #PeopleOfColor over propping up jimmy-sock-puppets to gaslight them. Let's keep an eye on this one, because there may be a price to pay for ignoring POC, especially where they reside and raise families.
