Closeup of a green CM0 dev board showing the rectangle of pads surrounded by flux and random bits of solder debris from the module being removed.

Continuing my CM0 fun from last night where I removed the module from the dev board, soldered it to my carrier, reflashed 64-bit Lite RPiOS and it didn't boot, no LED, nothing. Checked the schematic, PCB for shorts, voltages, etc. and couldn't find anything so took […]

The "Chinese market" Raspberry Pi CM0 has made it to the UK 🥳 .

Still seems a strange product, even the URL on the box ( https://raspberrypi.com/products/cm0-dev ) doesn't work 🙄 .

Radxa CM4 with an RK3576 processor could be a cheaper alternative to the Radxa CM5 (with RK3588) For the last few years Radxa has been selling a line of computer-on-a-module systems that are pin-to-pin compatible with the Raspberry Pi CM4 and CM5. The Radxa CM3 launched in 2021 as a model with a Rockchip RK3566 processor and Radxa introduced a CM5 with a higher-performance RK3588 the following year. Noteably absent at the time? A Radxa CM4 that would split the difference in terms of price and performance.

Libre Computer is making compute module versions of its latest Amlogic single-board computers Libre Computer has revealed that its working on new compute modules that use the same form factor as Raspberry Pi's CM4 and CM5, although there are a few differences in the pin layout, so it's unclear if they'll work with the same carrier boards. But Libre Computer says its coming modules are more energy-efficient thanks to "low power state support with features like wake-on-LAN/IR/IO/CEC and wake-on-camera/display." These tiny computers are also powered by Amlogic processors rather than the Broadcom chips preferred by Raspberry Pi.

ArmSoM CM1 is a $15 RK3506J compute module with an optional carrier board. We've seen a bunch of computer-on-a-module designs from Raspberry Pi, Banana Pi, NVIDIA, and others in recent years. But the ArmSoM CM1 stands out as one of the only models I've seen that can be used with or without a carrier board since it has a built-in USB-C port, MIPI-DSI display connector, and microSD card reader. It's also pretty cheap, with…

Sipeed NanoCluster is a tiny device for creating clusters of up to 7 Compute Modules Cluster computing is a method of setting up multiple computers so they can work together like a single system. Some cluster systems are massive machines that take up space in data centers. Others are a lot smaller. But the SiPeed NanoCluster is one of the most compact cluster boards I've ever seen. When fully populated, it's a 100 x 60 x 60mm (3.94" x 2.36" x 2.36") device that supports up to 7 compute modules.

Milk-V Jupiter NX is now available (NVIDIA Jetson NX-like compute module with a SpacemiT K1 RISC-V processor ) The Milk-V Jupiter NX is a computer-on-a-module that looks like a stick of laptop memory. It's compatible with carrier boards designed for the NVIDIA Jetson NX compute module, but while NVIDIA's hardware combines an ARM-based processor with NVIDIA graphics and an AI accelerator, the Milk-V module has an 8-core RISC-V processor and a 2 TOPS NPU. Performance for this little computer will likely lag far behind what you'd get from the latest NVIDIA modules, but the Jupiter NX is the latest in a line of products from Milk-V aimed at developers looking for affordable options for getting started with RISC-V architecture.

Raspberry Pi CM5 is now available for $45 and up (BCM2712 and up to 16GB of RAM… eventually) After showing up at a German trade fare earlier this month, the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 is now official. It's a 55 x 40mm (2.17" x 1.57") computer-on-a-module with the same 2.4 GHz Broadcom BC2712 ARM Cortex-A76 quad-core processor as the Raspberry Pi 5. It's currently available with up to 64GB of eMMC storage and up to 8GB of RAM, but Raspberry Pi also plans to add models with 16GB of memory sometime in 2025.
