Architect Rögnvaldur Ólafsson designed this barn while suffering from tuberculosis. He also designed the main hospital building at Vífilsstaðir, where he died from the illness in 1917. The barn was his final project.

The tuberculosis sanatorium in Vífilsstaðir included a dairy farm. The photos from this week are all of a large cowshed and barn that is on the grounds there. It was built in 1916 and operated until 1974.
