The thing about character-driven writing (at least for me) is sometimes your characters talk interminably about the same things over & over 😫
For Anders and Ambha, it’s:
Ambha: You need to be more careful.
Anders: But I want to live!

It's pretty dark, but I was hoping to make it dark, so it's perfect.

I don't think Kiran is secretly the protagonist of #DarkDreams the way the Wolf ended up being secretly the protag of #BeauAndTheWolf.. but he's the one I feel the most for.
Ari is too innocent, Astra is a jerk & Anders keeps being an idiot, but
I saw that BRHG had an album called "Your Highness," and was like.. calm down now, that doesn't mean you can add every single song to your #DarkDreams soundtrack.
But I did add most of them 😄

At last he lay curled up on his bed, wrapped in the prized blue banyan, his head in Kiran's lap, who softly stroked his loose curls. "I'm sleeping in your bed," Kiran had declared in a voice that brooked no argument. "And I defy anyone to question that after two threats to your life in the same night." Anders had only nodded, warmed again. Ambha sat on the edge of the bed and leaned toward Anders. "Now I want to know exactly how this came about." So Anders told her everything, from finding the man on the beach, to right before she had come around the corner with the pistol. Ambha listened with a gradually sharpening gaze, while Kiran sucked in his breath or tensed at some parts he hadn't heard before. "I'm sorry," Anders finished. "I never would have brought him in, never would have kept him here, if I'd known how much trouble he would be." Kiran cleared his throat. "Oh. Right. You did try to warn me." Anders touched Kiran's hand. "I'm sorry I didn't listen. And you, too." He shifted his attention to Ambha. "You tried to advise me. If I had listened, we wouldn't be here now." "No, but perhaps 'here' isn't so bad.“

I may have reached the end of #DarkDreams 😱 Some connecting parts I still have to write, but now I know how it (probably) ends.
It happened so fast- I wrote a WILD scene last night (and stayed up till 2:30) which I thought I wouldn’t even use cause it went so far off the rails-
