I come from a high class family, and been rised as such. Only the [best-of] manners and grades were allowed. Any deviation would at least get me reprimands, but I was lucky when it was [just that]. As you know, I had to learn instruments during my free time. But the choice of piano was because my Father plays it, the flute for my Mother, and the violin was just because it was fancy... they always loved to [play pretend] fancier than they were and I had to perpetuate this.
I didn't have much friends growing up, I always had something to learn taking my time. Even more so if I didn't get a grade they expected me to have.

It was... clandestine researches but apparently if it was successful they wanted to try to make it a legal medical treatment. So these experiments and tests on our Amalgamate state were necessary.
