Districts across the country are now wrapping up summative ELP assessments to determine progress and reclassification. It’s a time for celebration and reflection on what we can do to enhance support for our English learners in the upcoming school year. Consider these essential steps:
🔴 Start the 2025-26 school year with a thorough diagnostic assessment based on the most up-to-date ELP standards to understand which language skills need additional support
🟠 Next, implement an individualized instructional path gained from the diagnostic insights with the support of a standards-based curriculum
🔵 Right before students take their summative assessments (ACCESS, ELPAC, NYSELAT, ELPA21, or TELPAS), provide them with realistic practice so they arrive prepared and confident
🟢 Witness better student performance and outcomes on the summative assessments, with less stress!
