Commission backs letter asking council to draft youth e-bike restriction under AB 22 34 After a data-driven presentation on rising pediatric e-bike trauma from local hospitals, the commission voted to draft and forward a letter recommending the City Council draft an ordinance under AB 22 34 to prohibit class 1 and 2 e-bike operation by children under 12, with an education-first approach and a warning period before enforcement.

Pediatric e-bike injuries have skyrocketed, prompting officials to consider a new ordinance to keep kids under 12 safe on the roads.
