THE TITLE:
Immensity
THE POEM:
Inconsequence is not a thing, my friend:
there's amplitude in any modest move,
immensity in nuance, breathing, pause,
because we're indivisible from it,
this universe aggrandized by its atoms,
quanta since the yawn of when and where,
and no mere photons from the shells of time.
Discount the bankruptcies of narrow thoughts.
Humility is not denying mass
or underrating your colossal role
in how our cosmos flowers night to light.
Acknowledge heft, extent, deep consequence:
your place and fate in causing more effects
than you may recognize or comprehend.
Know every single mote and notion counts!
Please take the greatest pleasures from these truths.
Pure matter's rapture comes from mattering,
ingraining space with aims, sweet verve so urged
it sends a trembling throughout galaxies.
Emotion's motion! Love's creating stars!
