Valentine is an internationally published cosplayer, panelist, and content creator. Her guesting, judging, and paneling endeavors have led her all over the east coast to conventions such as Galaxycon Richmond, Galaxycon Raleigh, Cosplay World Richmond, Tekko, Triad Anime Con, RavenCon, and Colossalcon East. Despite living with a chronic illness herself, she uses her platform to uplift and educate others in her efforts to make the cosplay community a place where everyone truly belongs. Her passion and skill for cosplay has opened a path to new opportunities such as partnering with the brand, MoeFlavor, and even being selected as an official Cosplay Creator for NIKKE: Goddess of Victory. Valentine constantly uses her platform to lift up other cosplayers, including her prior position as Monthly Q&A Manager for Carolina Cosplayers. She is always reminding her community to do everything for the love of cosplay.
Tswify9, Cos-Slayers Cos-Slayers is a Virginia-based cosplay group. They organize and participate in state-wide cosplay events such as conventions, competitions, and photoshoots. Their goal is to foster a welcoming community for anyone who wants to bring their favorite characters to life.

Lisa Yaszek is Regents’ Professor of Science Fiction Studies at Georgia Tech, where she explores science fiction as a global language crossing centuries, continents, and cultures. Her recent award-winning books include Sisters of Tomorrow: The First Women of Science Fiction (2016); Literary Afrofuturism in the Twenty-First Century (2021); and her The Future is Female! Classic Science Fiction Stories by Women series (2018-present). Dr. Yaszek’s ideas about science fiction as a window into culture have been featured in venues including Time Magazine, The Washington Post, and Space.com, and she has been an expert commentator for CBS Sunday Morning, the BBC4, Turner Classic Movies, and the AMC miniseries James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction. A founding member of the Eugie Award for Short Speculative Fiction, in 2024 Dr. Yaszek received the Science Fiction Research Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the study of science, technology, and science fiction across media.

Hannah “Spoon” Wilson is a professional illustrator and artist whose work ranges from book covers and inset illustrations, to fine art and paintings, to biological illustration. They frequently explore elaborate depictions of the natural world, mixed with witchy, nerdy, and fantastical elements. Their work is crafted in a variety of media, but ink, watercolor, and digital are their favorites. Recent publications of their work include inset illustrations in Lesbians in Space 2: The Sapphics Strike Back— an anthology by Space Wizard publishing, the covers for the brand new Gen X romance series by Samantha Bryant—Not Too Late, Acid Reign, and Ready or Not, and the inset illustrations for the upcoming reprint of When the Television Decides to Murder your Girlfriend by Martin Shannon. When they aren’t drawing, you can typically find them making and dressing up in custom cosplays! Other hobbies of theirs include reading while curled up with their cat, weaving, hiking, and traveling with their husband and dog. Reaching out to the younger generations of fandom is very important to all of us here at RavenCon. We take extra pride in putting together our Kids’ Programming every year. We work on making the whole weekend filled with things to do for kids. The Gaming Room never closes! Gaming at RavenCon is a large part of our convention. Such a large part, that our game room never closes; it’s open 24-3 for all the avid gamers. (24 hours a day for 3 days!) You will find every type of game and gamer represented in the game room—from the novice to the experienced gamer, from the hardcore to the casual. Many new games have appeared and have been playtested at RavenCon, so keep your eyes open for a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Game styles vary from table to table. You will find role-playing games (RPGs) such as Dungeons & Dragons, Savage Worlds, Dragon Slayer, CyberPunk, Project Crusaders, or Pathfinder. Card games such as Magic: The Gathering and Villagers are common. Epic miniature games such as Battle Tech and Star Wars: X-Wing are crowd-pleasing games and as much fun to view as they are to play. There are also amazing board games such as King of Monster Island, Kleos, and Carcassonne; you may even find people battling it out over a classic game of chess!

Charity Auction RavenCon is active in community service. Each year we hold a Charity Auction to raise funds for that year’s designated charity. Our programming guests, dealers, and attendees all generously donate items to be auctioned off. So far, RavenCon has raised over $22,000 for charities and non-profit organizations. 2025 Charity Auction RavenCon is supporting The Dandelion Hive this year. The Dandelion Hive works collaboratively with community and professional partners to increase funding and programming around mental health and recovery resources that center the most marginalized and intersectional people in the LGBTQIA+ community.
