She's the "tweetest" gal around. Unlike the bright red males, females are a more subtle grayish-tan or pale brown, with warm red accents on their wings, tail, and crest. It's a "cardinal rule" of birdwatching to know the difference! Both males and females have a distinctive orange-red beak and a dark mask around the face, though the female's mask is often smaller and more subtle. She's not "beak-ing" any rules of style!
