Exiting the House we then toured the extensive Gardens, set up as formal English style. Flowers, Ornamental trees and bushes, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Filoli was mostly self-sufficient, growing all their own food.

Inside the house is a look back in Time. Filoli was a large Estate, with scores of employees working the Farm and attending to the house. Again, much like Downton, the Family lived upstairs while the Staff resided in the Basement.

Last night my Wife and I plus 2 close friends visited Filoli Historic House and Gardens. We were there in June for 1st time, then returned to see it decorated for the Holidays. Filoli was built in 1917, and occupied and run similar to what we saw on Downton Abbey!
