The #forcedswimtest (FST) is the only test used in basic research or disease modeling that gets a spot in the 'baskets,' & its unwisely placed in the category of needing validated alternatives.
The FST is a rubbish test to start. Full stop. Ending it now would only have positive outcomes.

Great news from the UK! 🎉
@lordhanson.bsky.social confirmed to @petauk.bsky.social the ministry’s intention to no longer grant licenses for the #ForcedSwimTest.
The last remaining licenses will expire in 2028 and will not be renewed.

New #SystematicReview finds a "remarkable" level of publication bias in experiments using the #ForcedSwimTest for antidepressant screening.
Combined with incomplete reporting, this compromised effect size estimates and raises "concerns about the validity of the FST literature."

#NIH does stupid animal testings, there´s not a week passing without any petition against that cruelty. I sign and post all of such petitions from Peta and other NGOs, this only to mention.
