Survival rates would increase with traits related to conservative strategy but decrease with traits related to acquisitive strategy, according to the one-dimensional plant economics spectrum and the growth–mortality trade-off theory. See Supplementary Table S3 for trait abbreviations.
Zhen-Yu Wang et al. explored relationships between functional traits and survival mediated by tree size in subtropical forests. The results showed that leaf and root traits have inconsistent effects on tree survival.

Walking through the forests in the Asiago plateau hit by Vaia last October. The large surfaces blown down were the ones that made to the news but the storm also created many irregular, small openings within stands. Looking forward to see whats’up here in 20 yrs #forestdynamics
