Though I do admit, I may have stopped watching SMG4's videos after the whole controversy regarding Nintendo filing a cease and desist against The Big House that caused the whole #FreeMelee movement and didn't want to associate myself to anything Nintendo-related anymore. (3/6)

You've got to be a hell of a loser to cheat a time-trial leaderboard, even absent of the implications for the speedrun community.
Like, what are you even gaining for it? Nobody believes you, and you're not activising. (Unlike the #FreeMelee chads who hacked their place on the Splatoon boards.)

The ONLY (and I mean ONLY) Time I think Demeech actually screwed up when i came to Nintendo Criticism was with #FreeMelee, specifically when he didn't criticize Nick Allstars Brawl despite being both unfinished AND Nickelodeon (2 major parts of his channel). Other than that, he was GREAT. ->

nov-dec 2020 was wild. From us supporting melee when big house got forced to cancel because of nintendo, leading to #freemelee in nintendo's own splatoon tourney, which turned into us hosting our own finals which got 23K prize pool and the meelee community tuned in.
As well, the catmaid art swarm.

The amount of consumer solidarity that happened 5 years ago around #FreeMelee resulting from that C/D, to the point where Splatoon players risked punishment just to show support with the movement... I respect that a lot in hindsight.
