A breathtaking multiwavelength image of the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101), a grand spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. This composite, from Chandra X-ray Observatory (purple), Galaxy Evolution Explorer (blue), Hubble Space Telescope (yellow), and Spitzer Space Telescope (red), reveals X-ray emissions from exploded stars and the galaxy's intricate spiral arms teeming with stars and dust. M101 spans 170,000 light-years and is located 25 million light-years away.
