A sketchbook in portrait orientation sits over the corner of a tea tray covered in a floral cloth. To the left of the sketchbook sits a yellow pencil stub with a blunt lead and a gold ferrule with the remains of a yellow eraser peaking out of its end. The pencil stub is shorter than the ferrule. Also on the tray and surrounding the sketchbook the handles and bases of, a green teapot, a milk jug and cream-coloured mug are just visible. The mug has what looks like a capital "M" on its side. An illustration of a grey chicken is visible on the top right of the try handle.
In the sketchbook is a self-portrait spreading across the two visible pages. It is made with bold, thick pencil lines and is of a bearded bald man in his fifties sitting up in bed. He is wearing round glasses and a t-shirt and has heavy lines under one of his eyes, suggesting that he might be a little weary.
Here's this morning's tea-tray drawing. I didn't sleep well last night and can see a long nap in my future (!), but think I look surprisingly chipper in this self-portrait 😊
Wishing you the best possible of days.
