I present 7/10 of the first wave of Care Bear characters. From the original crew that started it all, here's GRUMPY BEAR! I think we can all universally agree Grumpy Bear is the most beloved/relatable one out of the group; he's loved by all, and I bet you he knows it, but he'll never admit he's the popular one. Learning from what I did when I created the prototype picture, I used the same color palette and changed a little bit of his tummy badge for my official take on the character. Originally I wanted him to have a bowl-cut-style hair because I have always felt that he was the "Moe Howard" of the group. I tried five different styles, and they all didn't look quite right, so I went on a big search for what I could use as a reference for his hair, and once again, I took inspiration from 2007's "Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot" (shocker, I know), but instead of making it round, I went with making it pointy and curved. Know this, folks: he will show you his smile behind that frown of his...you just need to see it ;) I want people to see that I have high respect for this IP and give it great quality fan art. From this past month I have been studying and practicing to draw Care Bears and this was one of the many line arts I did and it's the first time I've put it to color and finished one of them in full, so this is a prototype. I looked at all the different styles from the past years to current and tried to pick one that I'm particular with, and I sort of combined the current version with the classic. I debated if I wanted to put the round cheeks in, and it just didn't look right, but that's fine because I'm still practicing. I guess the particular lines I did for it just didn't look right. I want to start making fan art of these characters in the proper way because I'm sick and tired of seeing "slop"—(NOT AI SLOP) but like crappy memes and crappy MS Paint edit jobs and the weird fetish art. But don't get me wrong; there are a couple of great art pieces scattered here and there, and I would like to contribute and finally give these characters justice with actual fan art. By no means am I not going to make MLP fan art anymore. Good God, no, I just want to make something different that is not the same thing over and over. You don't want to feel like a one-hit wonder, you know? They will always be part of me. I just want these Bears to be part of it too. Besides I have always had a soft spot for them.
