A whirligig at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson North Carolina. I used my Olympus Pen and Kodak ProImage 100 film to make the pictures. Simpson's whirligigs are designed to move in the wind and they moved in the wind that day. They are also a bit noisy, something not recorded in still photography. Vollis Simpson (1919 – 2013) made the kinetic sculptures out of recycled materials, which included scrapped street signs. He named them whirligigs. About 30 of them are collected in this park. Others can be found in various places in Wilson and other places.

This past week I took my Olympus Pen to Wilson North Carolina to make photographs of Vollis Simpson's 'whirligigs', kinetic sculptures he made of recycled materials. I used Kodak ProImage 100 film. More details in the Alt Text.

Partially-overlapping frames of the Seattle Space Needle and nearby, flower-like structures from an art installation within the Seattle Center. Each frame overlaps no more than 1/8th or so of each image's width, giving the impression that the Space Needle, aglow from the sun behind the photographer, is immediately next to the towering, green metal stalks, with their thin red 'petals' bending downwards and up toward the Space Needle.
