This is a close up of a costume (for the stage) that is being hand knitted from cotton string. They’ve told me it is usually used for the backs of carpets. It is off white and it’s Reverse Stocking Stitch with some deliberate holes ‘flea bites’. I’m not enjoying this job - the string has no ‘give’ and it makes my hands hurt
This close up shows some red brown - (the colour of a red squirrel) hand knitting in plain Stocking Stitch. It is knitted from Rowan ‘Kid Silk Haze’ which is mohair with 30% silk. I’m knitting this held double - 2 strands together but it is still like knitting with wisps. This will be a lady’s garment in a movie - and I have to make 2 - as one will be ‘broken down’ because the character is having a hard life.
