The dome of R2-D2 with the panel for the rear logic display glued in place. Also the ring of the holo projector to the side was glued in.
The holo projector panel on the top of the dome was glued in. And several of the small panels too which will not be animated later.
Here and there I find a few minutes to work on the #happinessMachine. I glued some of the dome panels, since those will not be servo operated to open. #3DPrinting #StarWars #propMaking #droidbuilders #wip

Tonight I will continue some #StarWars related builds. For one I need to finish painting my R2-D2 wooden legs and also do the detail work on my Stormtrooper helmet. So the #airbrush gets some work again. 😄 #3dPrinting #happinessMachine #wip

The other night I also mounted all the body Greeblies to R2-D2. It is so awesome seeing all the parts and colors coming together now. It got me really excited to start working on him again. 😁 #happinessMachine #StarWars #3dPrinting #droidBuilders #wip #makersHour

While looking at photos on my phone I realized that I haven’t done any work on my #happinessMachine Artoo for almost 6 months. So I started the process I kinda dreaded. Drilling the radar eye to use heat insets for attaching it to the dome. Since it is hollow the insets didn’t grip enough

After a few more repetitions of filler-primer and sanding.
Do you have any idea how much sanding and filler-primer was involved to get a nice smooth dome for R2-D2? Let me tell you: a lot! It didn’t help that I printed it 3 years ago in PLA+. Since PLA is really bad to sand. #3dPrinting #droidbuilder #happinessMachine #StarWars
