Felix, a physics undergrad at Cambridge, is approached by a mysterious woman named Sabrina, who tells him she comes from a magical world with dragons. Felix is excited to see dragons, and asks her to take him there. She brings him through a portal and introduces him to Aimetor, a Dragonblood shapeshifter who is to be his guide to the dragons. She sends Aimetor, who recognises her as the goddess Gnaramater, on a quest to ask the dragons for help in an upcoming war, taking Felix along – a quest which Aimetor certainly never envisioned would come with a tagalong with no magic. Meanwhile, Felix gets tangled up into a brewing war – and might just have a gender-related discovery along the way.
