A new waterfront public space with newly planted gardens and thin trees is enjoyed by a smattering of people on the wooden benches and some sitting at tables on a faux lawn. The malting silos loom over the old port building with the downtown skyline in the distance while the top of the CN Towers peaks overtop.
Clean paving bricks stretch to the end of the Western Gap with the Island Airport service buildings on the far side. Deck chairs in groups, a scant tree, wooden benches, and the grey stone of the Irish Famine memorial to the side as a seagull wings overhead.
Several scant trees rise from ports in the paving bricks as someone saunters by the water.
A wooden bench stretches toward a gap in the Irish Famine memorial, between the grey stone edifices a glimpse of the parkette beyond can be caught as the pale concrete of the malting towers rise to the left.
While I am undecided regarding the design of Bathurst Quay Common, a new public space in the neighbourhood is always welcome.
