I’ve returned from holiday to a mountain of messages and emails, so there is much much much to do. However, I’m not quite ready to fully abandon the peaceful island vibes and underwater bliss I drifted in for the last week; it has soaked into my bones. So with the sound of floating weightless at depth, here's some more (US) morning mellow.

I’ve been studying German for about 2 years now and whilst I’m not even remotely good at it, I’ve come to love the language very much. I could go on and on about how I admire its logical structure and general mechanics, which are much different than English, but today I’m focused on a word I learned over the weekend.

“Fernweh” (pronounced “FEHRN-vay”; be sure to roll that R).

It’s a uniquely German word that has no perfect English equivalent. Roughly, it means "far-sickness" - a deep longing to travel, to be elsewhere, to explore the unknown. It’s the opposite of homesickness and I seem to be very much basking in it today.

So with thoughts of floating through warm, deep waters or a long walk into the cool and quiet depths of a forest, here’s some more (US) morning mellow.
