# 5: Freshman Rep. Mark Messmer won the #IN08 Republican primary and election with $1.9 million in AIPAC spending:
- $303,000 in PAC contributions
- $1.6 million in super PAC spending
Messmer beat John Hostettler and others in the GOP primary.
Democrats are pushing hard to extend the IRA subsidies, of course, but if you live in #IN02, #IN03, #IN04, #IN05, #IN06, #IN08 or #IN09 and have an ACA plan (whether subsidized or not), I'd strongly advise contacting your House member & asking them to do so.
The AP has called the #IN08 GOP primary for state Sen. Mark Messmer, AIPAC's preferred candidate. He defeats former Rep. John Hostettler, an isolationist who voted against aid to Israel and was supported by Rand Paul.
With 10% of the vote reporting in the #IN08 GOP primary, Mark Messmer is blowing out Richard Moss and John Hostettler, 49–15–13%. Pro-Israel groups spent millions here to help him win.
Indiana's 8th District still bore the nickname "The Bloody Eighth" when Republican Larry Bucshon flipped it in 2010. He's now retiring from a safely red constituency. #IN08
