🌱 As #InvasiveSpeciesWeek draws to a close, we wanted to share pictures taken from the same spot, the first in 2020 before rhododendron clearance, the second in 2024 afterwards. See how the complex topography of the land is revealed, plus native trees which had disappeared from view.

No apologies for banging on about the problem of invasive Rhododendron ponticum this #INNSWeek. It's a serious threat to our native flora. Here's how you can help:
1. Talk to your local garden centre about it
2. Inform others &/or share our posts
3. Volunteer to remove it from your community 1/2

Our Shoresearch volunteers recorded the Brush Clawed Shore Crab, Hemigrapsus takanoi, at Pett Level in April.

Originating from Eastern Asia, this species has previously been recorded around the Thames Estuary and Kent coast; we believe this may be the first record in Sussex.

Rhododendron ponticum is the ONLY species of invasive rhododendron outside parks/gardens. Introduced in the 1700s, it is not naturally occurring in #ScotlandsRainforest. It's as much a man-made problem as climate change. We have a responsibility to remove &/or report it 👉 buff.ly/sim1mCt #INNSWeek
