There is strong evidence that comet #ISON (2013), #Kirch (1680) and #Negra (1347) are the same object. Orbital synchronicity between the comet and Earth suggests Earth went through the comet's tail in December 1347 causing widespread destruction.

Six panels from the SOHO spacecraft's coronograph show five bright comets: McNaught (2007), Lovejoy (2011), ISON (2013), Neowise (2020), and Tsuchinshan-Atlas (2024). A blank panel hints at a future comet observation. Each image depicts the comet's tail streaming away from the Sun, which is blocked by the coronograph.
