Unknown bug climbing up a few grass leaf blades in our lawn. The back looks like a dark brown knight’s shield with an orange dot on the lower half. The legs are lighter brown than the back and head.
Same unknown bug climbing sideways and looking at us. The head is very tiny and the sides seem to have a pattern of dark and light little bumps in a row along the shield shape.
Unknown bug climbing up again, but with its underside showing. It’s about the same lighter brown as the legs, with a warm tint.
Unknown bug climbing to the upper right to a leaf, showing off its little orange dot on the back, but the shade of the morning sun makes the dot look almost brown and the back almost black.
That was a pretty bad case of Monday for me and my family but at least I saw a new bug for #InverteFest! It reminded me a bit of the conifer bugs I had recently, but it’s smaller and has a darker shield-shaped back with an orange dot. Can anyone ID? #invertbrates #newbugwhodis
