Jaffar is the leader and a bare-fisted brawler. He’s not all brawn but he is an alien from a horrific wasteland of a planet, so human customs are not his thing. I imagine him similar to the IDW Sonic version of Zavok. Equal parts schemer and powerhouse who prefers the direct approach but is fully capable of using his head. I love the Deep Six and would like to see them used more, even outside of Aquaman. Each of these raided out Gill-Men is a massive threat due to their combat prowess and strength. They’re a specialized task-force with an array of skills spread among them. I think of them like a DND or Dragon Quest party. Each member has their own specialty and contributes to the groups overall success. The main drawback is their lack of knowledge about Earth and their total devotion to Darkseid, which can be taken advantage of. Since they can always be resurrected any writer could brutalize them however they want (like robotic Foot Ninja or the Ventriloquists dummy) and still be able to use them later on. When they show up they should always be a big roadblock, but they can be overcome.
These guys don’t seem to have much individuality so I’m going to speculate based on what I’ve seen. Pyron uses an up close weapon and rides on a hover board. I made him the shortest of the group and ave him a amore playfully sadistic personality. I imagine him as the Raph to the Deep Six’s Ninja Turtles. He likes getting into fights, showing off to his opponent and proving he’s better than them. Chalk it up to his Apocalypse upbringing giving him an inferiority complex.
Shaligo is the scout. He flies ahead and brings any information back to Jaffar. Despite not being too combat oriented he is durable and likes to use his weight to dive-bomb unsuspecting prey. He seems more cautious than the others and tends to perch himself high up like a gargoyle. I had some trouble with the Deep Six. Since they’re from Apocalypse I wanted to make them more desaturated to reflect the dingy, hopeless world they come from. It took me a while to land on a balance but I think I found it. Only their hate-filled red eye burn with full saturation.
Gole is the stealthy Rogue who creeps up behind a key target and slits their vitals with his sai. He moves silently despite his size and is always waiting for a kill, which he delights in. I imagine him as a super villain version of a slasher movie monster like Jason. He moves slowly but with purpose and strikes only when he knows he can taste a kill. Each Deep Six member has fins up both arms and one on their back. I don’t know if they’re from the same species or if Darkseid had them modified, but I felt it was important to keep that design cohesion between them since they are a unit.

The aquatic elites of Apocalypse, the #DeepSix. Their only purpose is to cause mayhem and terrorize the masses in the name of Darkseid. Even if they die they'll just be resurrected to serve him again.
