Excited to be part of the @led3hub.bsky.social of @leidenscience.bsky.social and of the organizing committee of the #LED3Lectures and #LED3Symposium. I am convinced that these are amazing initiatives that strengthen our collaborative spirit. New exciting activities are coming in 2026 and 2027.
We are happy that we could continue our activities to bring our researchers closer together including the LED3 PhD/Postdoc Symposium #LED3Symposium and our flagship #LED3Lectures, in which we heard talks by a diverse selection of world-leading speakers in the field of #DrugDiscovery. (2/3)

Amazing talk by @seanmckenna.bsky.social at the #LED3Symposium. He talked about his research on virtual screening (docking, pharmacophore modelling) of large libraries of compounds that can be made combinatorially from in-stock starting materials for rapid hit validation on the example of CCR2.
The second #FlashTalk session at #LED3Symposium was another firework of diverse early #DrugDiscovery topics including β-lactamase evolution (Cristina López Gallego), EC50 determinations (Chenyu Wang), transcription factor inhibitors (Brecht Ellenbroek) and natural products discovery (Pavlo Hrab).
Exciting talk by Max Kloet from the group of Gerbrand van der Heden van Noort from the LUMC at the #LED3Symposium. He talked about his research into the interplay of the posttranslational modifications of ubiquitination and ADP-ribosylation. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Interesting talk by Xuanlin Liu from the groups of @annegretemartson.bsky.social and @cvhasselt.bsky.social at the #LED3Symposium. She talked about her work on characterizing the viral load during Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections using PCR and TCID50 to build models for efficiency predictions.
Great talk by Mirjam Huizenga from the group of @mvdstelt.bsky.social at the #LED3Symposium. She talked about her doctoral research into inhibiting monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Lunch time was also the time for the group photo and the #PosterSession at the #LED3Symposium. Great to see so many people that are excited about early drug discovery coming together and exchanging over the posters. We hope that this sparked many new interdisciplinary ideas and collaborations.
The first #FlashTalk session of the #LED3Symposium gave us insights into early #PKPD modelling for predicting the outcome of clinical studies for #tuberculosis treatment (Asina Gijasi) and into self-encoded libraries for affinity-selection MS of macrocyclic compounds (cycloSELs, Miguel Mata).
Interesting talk by Laurence Cleenewerk from the groups of Joen Luirink and Nathaniel Martin at the #LED3Symposium. She talked about her research on screening natural product extracts for compounds that selectively target components in the cell envelope of Gram-negative bacteria.

The scientific program of the #LED3Symposium gets underway with an inspiring keynote lecture by NVBMB Speaker of the Year Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz. She talked about her group's exciting contributions to imaging life's structures and their dynamics down to the atomic level.
