I had a great in person “lab meeting” (really extended happy hour). I’m back on sabbatical travel this weekend, so this is the last time I get to soak up this combination of #LagoLab members. They are truly the best- I’ve lucked out with recruiting some of the best people as grad students.

Our painted ceramics turned out so well!! I love my passionfruit bowl so so much, and @lcorleto08.bsky.social’s Star Wars piece was called the coolest piece the guy at the pottery store said he’d seen in a long time! #LagoLab

Had a blast celebrating summer with the #LagoLab with painting pottery and eating Korean corn dogs! Though it was bittersweet as a farewell to @lcorleto08.bsky.social, who’s headed back to California after her @lsulagniappe.bsky.social year. What’s a great crew 😍!

A title slide with a black background that says in white text "Phylogenomics and macroevolutionary of a florally diverse Neotropical plant clade" and lists Laymon Ball, Ana Bedoya, Charlotte Taylor, and Laura Lagomarsino as co-authors who are at LSU College of Science and the Missouri Botanical Garden. To the right of the slide are examples of the stunning floral diversity, with red, orange, and white flowers of different sizes and shapes. There are also leaves of different sizes and examples of fruits next to some flowers (these images taken from herbarium specimens). There is an illustrated mountain range in white at the bottom of the slide.

I had a very special day with Lauren, I’m so proud to see how far one of the very first #LagoLab undergrads has come! This was made extra sweet because I’d been thinking about the importance of mentoring a lot, since I was in Madison to become trained in facilitating CIMER mentorship training 💕.
