I had a great in person “lab meeting” (really extended happy hour). I’m back on sabbatical travel this weekend, so this is the last time I get to soak up this combination of #LagoLab members. They are truly the best- I’ve lucked out with recruiting some of the best people as grad students.

I had a very special day with Lauren, I’m so proud to see how far one of the very first #LagoLab undergrads has come! This was made extra sweet because I’d been thinking about the importance of mentoring a lot, since I was in Madison to become trained in facilitating CIMER mentorship training 💕.
Congrats to Janet Mansaray, the first #LagoLab grad student to defend her PhD dissertation! She gave an excellent public defense on #Centropogon phylogenomics, macroevolution, and as a system for CURE course inquiry. The finish line is in sight
Our weekly tropical plant ID night in the LSU herbarium was extra successful tonight! The newest #LagoLab undergrad Nolan dove right into the deep end; he went from learning opposite vs. alternate leaves to IDing his first plant (a Chloranthaceae!) within an hour.
