The divine right of kings
Was bandied about
To raise commoners as things
Which erased all doubt
That the common man too
Could be royals sat on thrones
And so what could they do?
Nobles danced on their bones
While the common people wept
For their life's interruption
By strange foreign wars
And a stench of corruption
After centuries long
With no hope in sight
The commoner's song
Slayed the nobles at night
They all fell down, bang!
Their blood was so weak
For the words that we sang
Said 'We are the meek,
The common refrain,
We come only to seek
Justice for the slain
If you resign quietly
We'll spare your misery
If you move to fight back
We'll start to attack
If you try to escape
We'll show no mercy
We demand peace,
We demand thread
We demand that everyone be fed
Every soldier returned
To his family with care
Every servant and peasant
Given land and clean air
Every mother or child
Sheltered in the night
For all of these things
We stand up and fight
Give us this day,
Our daily bread
Or we'll take all of this
With a roll of your head'
The coup was so bloodless
It took but one night
When those we deemed noblest
All dropped dead with fright
The Commoner's Song (divine rights)
