Merced County leaders respond in overdrive after library privatization buzz goes viral Amid fears Merced County officials were looking to privatize libraries, a county official confirmed the topic was discussed with a company.

Our library is facing a $5M budget cut b/c the county voted against funding. I'm absolutely gutted! I can't even count the numerous ways my children's lives have been enriched by our branches. Jobs lost, new books nonexistent, programs gone. Such a vital part of our community.
